Baphomet’s Preferred Mods List

The Ones I Don’t Leave Home Without…

(Last Update: 27 December 2005)

Abu Manor v.2.0

http://www.morrowind-mod.com/Abu%20Manor%20Screenshots%201.htm

Not the biggest house you can find, but most definitely one of the finest, best laid out house-mods ever.  It has storage galore, a central location (Ald-Ruhn) and the stunning degree of attention to detail make this mod an absolute “Must Have” in my game.

Ald Vendras

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=329

One of two “landmass” mods that grace my game, and for good reason.  It is particularly, outstandingly, well done.

All Boat Ports

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2433

It makes sense to me that every boat port should connect with every other – they’re boats for heavens sake.  With this mod they all do: every boat can take you to every other boat dock in Morrowind.  It makes sense to me.  And so does this mod.

All Silt Strider Ports

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2435

Same principle as above. Seems to me that all mass transit should be interconnected. With this mod every Silt Strider can transport you to every other Silt Strider port in Morrowind.

Alternate (Reflective) Gold III

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=1310

Better looking gold coins.  Something had to be done about the gold in Morrowind, and while there are a lot of similar mods, this one happens to be the one that I prefer.

Amulets and Rings v2.1

http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=1234

Infinitely better looking rings and amulets.

A Lords Men v2.0

http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=2186

The only “companion” mod to grace my list - because it’s just that good.  Hire a companion that fits your need’s (Mages, Warriors, Butlers and Maids to name a few of the 35 types available) and your budget.  Remember though… Quality comes at a price.

Assassins’ Armory

http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=322

One of those “classics” I just can’t do without.  Loads of new weapons all through the game world.

Assassination

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1802

Sneak up behind an unsuspecting enemy for a chance to “snap” their neck; resulting in an instant, silent and totally undetected kill.  Ordinators included!

Better Bodies

http://www.rit.edu/~txo8933/Better%20Bodies%20v2.2.exe

Infinitely better looking NPC’s thanks to this “earth shattering” mod.  To call it “Essential” is almost an insult.

Better Books

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=357

Just that… better looking in-game books.  WAY better.

Better Glow

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1113

Replaces that horrible “plastic wrap” look on enchanted items with something far more subtle, and attractive looking.

Moon’s Soul Gem Replacer

http://files.filefront.com/jj_s_soul_gem_retexturerar/;3824063;/fileinfo.html

Retextured soul gems.  It is a matter of taste, but I love them!

Bottle Replacer

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=2191

Bottles that not only look transparent and shiny, they look marvelous!

Changing Faces Replacer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=661

Another fantastic mod.  Replaces the faces of in-game NPC’s with fantastic looking retextured ones.  Be sure to get the update as well.  Another “Must Have” mod, in my opinion.

Cliffracer Remover

(Sorrry, no link for this one.  See below...)

The name says it all.  Three different .esp files to better “manage” the Cliff Racer population to choose from: number one makes for less hostile Cliffies, number two gives you fewer spawned Cliffies and number three simply removes Cliffies from the game completely (buh-bye!).  No link for this mod as I don’t know where to find it for download any longer.  PM or email me if you want this one and I can send it to you.

Creatures

http://www.pirates.retreat.btinternet.co.uk/Creatures.htm

More creatures.  A perfectly logical extension of the Morrowind bestiary.

Daedric Weapons Enhancer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=661

Vastly improved hi-res textures for Daedric weapons.  It’s like Daedric on steroids.

Ebony Weapons Enhancer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3244

Sharper, cleaner hi-res textures for ebony weapons.  Simple, but badly needed and very well done.

Enchanted Icon Selection

http://www.mwsource.com/files/details.php?file=894

Personally, I hate the default “Blue Swirls” on my enchanted items inventory screen.  Now I can have something far more subtle.  This mod offers several choices of small, subtle markers, that indicate enchanted items and do away with the default blue swirl.

Glass Weapon Enhancer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3290

Sharper, cleaner hi-res textures for glass weapons.  Complements the Ebony Enhancing mod above.

Journal Enhanced

http://www.freewebs.com/aerelorn/

One of the “Morrowind Enhanced” series of mods. This one allows you to create custom Journal entries using any quill or inkwell found in the game.  Finally you can put whatever you want directly into your in-game Journal.  You’ll need to install “Morrowind Enhanced” to use “Journal Enhanced” but everything you need can be found at the site provided in the link.

Potion Upgrade v1.3

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=660

Better looking in-game potion bottles.  Really well done.  Beautiful, transparent bottles.  Some with animated bubbling.

K Scroll Upgrade v1.1

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=662

Better looking in-game scrolls.  A lot better looking.

Key Replacer

http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=1212

Unique looking keys.  No longer do all the various keys in MW look the same.  It’s a small thing, but once you have it, you realize how badly you’ve been wanting it; you just didn’t know it.

KP Visual Pack v2.11

http://khalazza.production.free.fr/download.php?ref=21&url=http://khalazza.ufrealms.net/mw_visual_pack_2.11.ace

One of a few “global texture replacers” that I use.  I take several particular textures from these mods and mix-and-match them with Vibrant Morrowind to get the effect I am looking for.  And for those who do not want to mix their replacers, this is still an excellent starting place for a vastly better looking Morrowind.

KP Visual Pack v2.2

http://khalazza.production.free.fr/download.php?ref=29&url=http://khalazza.ufrealms.net/KP_MW_Visual_Pack_2.2_nature.ace

Works in conjunction with Visual Pack v2.11

Lantern Replacer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3149

It might be a tiny little thing to mod - the lanterns in MW - but this mod is absolutely charming and very well done.  This mod changes the in-game lamps (interior and exterior) to something more colorful and attractive, without being garish or too “in your face”.

Misc. Items Replacer

http://elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=2205

Replaces a lot of the misc item meshes in Morrowind with better meshes and textures. Many objects are reflection-mapped and translucent with animated textures and particle effects.  Awesome!!

ModMan Windowlights – Full

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1761

Windows that glow at night.  A classic mod, and still worth having.  I use it in conjunction with Windows Glow (yes, you can do it without conflicts, I promise).  The combination, I think, makes for an outstanding overall effect.

Multiple Teleport Marking

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1397

Up to twelve Mark points that you can later Recall to.  When one just isn’t enough… this is your mod.

NPC “Move” Command

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1701

How many times has a door been blocked by an NPC that simply will not get out of your way?  Now you can ask that annoying NPC that is blocking your way to please “Move” via a quick and easy dialog topic.  A handy little mod!  Faster and easier than using the Console.

Real Signposts

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=62

Signposts you can read (in English) without having to press your nose up against them.  One of the truly “classic” Morrowind mods to be sure.  And with good reason.

Morrowind Sound Enhancement

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1051

Improved (way improved!) sound effects for Morrowind.  I have tried them all, and this is the one that I like best.

Silverware Enhancer

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3171

Hi-poly and reflective silverware, candleholders, etc.

Unofficial Morrowind Patch

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2083

This mod really IS essential.  Seriously.  It fixes hundreds of tiny, and not so tiny, errors in Morrowind.  Everything from simple yet annoying typos to quest-breaking dialog loops have been addressed and corrected.  Truly… you need this mod.  Do not play without it.

Vibrant Morrowind

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=985

My preferred global texture replacer for Morrowind.  This is my basic replacer.

Vibrant Trees

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3200

Just like the name says, vibrant, colorful trees.

Visual Pack XT

http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=1150

Works in conjunction with the KP Visual Packs v.211 and 2.2.

White Wolf of Lokken Mountain

http://lovkullen.net/Emma/lokken.htm

The second “landmass” mod and the ONLY “quest” mod you will find on my list, and with good reason.  This mod is, in my sole opinion at least, positively outstanding in both respects.

Windows Glow v1.7 (See note…)

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=389

Used in conjunction with ModMan’s Window Lights.  Windows that “glow” at night for a beautiful night-time experience.  I use the older 1.7 version because I don’t care for the “flickering candle” effect that came with version 2.2.  Just a matter of taste.  Link goes to the new v2.0; PM or email me if you want the older v1.7 as I don’t know where to find it for download any more.

WryeMash

http://home.earthlink.net/~wrye_modder/morrowind.html

Part mod, part utility, WryeMash does it all.  It cleans your game-saves, repairs references, merges your Leveled Lists and a whole lot more … In my opinion it is nothing (nothing!) short of amazing.  Nothing has helped me manage Morrowind better, faster, or easier.  Yes the documentation is extensive, and yes WryeMash is more complicated than simply clicking on the “Just Fix It!” button, but the effort required is well worth it.  If you have mods running in your game WryeMash is a must have.  Run, don’t walk, and download it now, now, now!!!
